BASD Spring Dye Workshop on May 4

"Over The Rainbow" Dye Workshop with Linda B. Whiting.

In this hands on workshop you will learn how to make all the colors of the rainbow using just three primary colors and discover how changing your primaries will shift those colors. You will take home a notebook of information and cards of color samples you have produced. Exercises include creating a rainbow, gradations, complementary combinations, analogous combinations, and triad combinations. There is a discussion of color theory, crayon colors versus earth colors, and much more. Acid dyes for wool, other animal fibers and silk will be used.

BASD Table at Sudbury Valley Trustees

Sudbury Valley Trustees is having a holiday open house on Saturday, December 1st from 9am-5pm. SVT is planning on making it a festive day, with music and refreshments, and are offering SVT members and others a chance for some early holiday shopping. BASD has been invited to have a demo and sale table at the event and at the last meeting BASD members agreed that we would like to staff such a table.

SVT is inviting a number of artists, authors and artisans we know to come for all or part of the day, and they are inviting folks to leave a few items which they would have on sale through the month of December, if they would like. For sales, they are asking a 75/25% split, with the artists keeping 75% of the sale price, and 25% going to SVT. Check out will be handled by SVT. Current plans are to ask that artists fill out price tags (which we will supply) with price, item number, and artist's name.

BASD needs to arrange signups, so we can staff the table. Members, please email Debbie Kaplan if you would like to sign up and indicate signup times.

The 2007 NHA Open House will be held November 3 in Freeport ME.

The 2008 Gathering will be held November 7-9, 2008 at the Sheraton in Wakefield MA. More details to come.
