January 28 Meeting
Hear ye, hear ye!
Come to our next BASD meeting, Jan. 28, to learn about spinning and
dying flax and wool in Colonial times.
Our guest, Penny LaCroix, will come in period costume and bring her
Great Wheel for spinning wool and a flax wheel for spinning flax. She will also bring flax for us to spin so
bring your wheels. We will learn about
how fibers were processed and dyed in Colonial America. Penny was a systems engineer at MITER who
decided to go back and perfect her early love of fiber arts. Currently Penny is
the director of the Westford
Museum and has a studio
where she teaches spinning and weaving.
Also, remember to bring your 4 oz of alpaca yarn for the swap! We will exchange yarns at this meeting and make something interesting to be swapped back to the original spinner at the May potluck.
